Sad Neptune - Maisie Hayes

Sad Neptune
Maisie Hayes
Harken this siren and my sad Neptune
Sunk by a deity sea king’s doubloons
I first heard his signal, his sonaring pings
Tingling thrilling me with drunken rings
My world was his oyster, and treasure chest
My pearl’s luster sought in the crow’s nest
Up periscope and the anchor’s away
His seaman’s prow delved in littoral bay
I should have heeded the claxon’s call
Kept an eye out for the incoming squall
Now man’s overboard, and lifeboats do leak
Saltwater tears wetting only my cheek
Now I’m coughin’ in Davy Jones’ locker
That starboard dominator and stalker!
That port corrupter, that mastermind creep!
Torpedo brute paying for my barkeep!
